Harvest Apple Bars

Yields1 Serving
 2 ½ cups Whole wheat flour
 1 tsp Salt
 1 cup Shortening
 1 Egg yolk and enough water to fill a cup ¾ full
 6 Large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
 1 ½ cups Sugar
 1 heaping tsp of cinnamon
 1 Egg white, beaten
 Preheat oven to 375 F.
Glaze
 1 cup icing sugar
 1 tsp vanilla
 enough hot water to make a thin glaze

Mix flour, salt, shortening and egg yolk mixture together till its soft and resembles a pie dough. Divide the dough in half. Roll out one half and put it in the bottom of a large cookie sheet. Spread the apples evenly over the dough and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the remaining dough and place on top. Brush the egg white on top of the dough and sprinkle with raw sugar, if so desired. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Glaze while still warm
